Use this fit guide to pick the right Commuter Series case for an iPhone 16e or iPhone 15, with model rules, trade-offs, and charging notes.
Quick answer
For most iPhone 16e owners, the OtterBox Commuter Series Case for iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 is the simplest fit, because it is the Commuter model that explicitly lists iPhone 16e. For iPhone 15 owners, either Commuter Series option that lists iPhone 15 will fit, so choose by price and color rather than by model. If you want a holiday look for an iPhone 17 Pro, the Symmetry Series Holiday Collection is the only listed model here built for that phone.
Which Commuter Series case actually fits your iPhone
The Commuter Series lineup overlaps across several iPhone generations, and that is why the model list on each product page matters more than the name. The OtterBox Commuter Series Case for iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 covers four generations in one case, so it is the only listed Commuter option that names the iPhone 16e. The OtterBox Commuter Series Case for iPhone 16e, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 also covers the iPhone 16e and iPhone 15, but it stops at iPhone 13 instead of reaching iPhone 17e. The OtterBox Commuter Series Case for iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 14 Plus is sized for the larger Plus bodies, so it will not fit a standard iPhone 15 or iPhone 16e.
- iPhone 16e: choose the Commuter model that lists iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14, or the model that lists iPhone 16e, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13.
- iPhone 15: both standard-size Commuter models list iPhone 15, so pick the lower price or the color you prefer.
- iPhone 15 Plus: only the Plus-specific Commuter model lists your phone.
- iPhone 17 Pro: the Commuter Series models here do not list it; the Symmetry Series Holiday Collection does.
What you get and what you give up
Commuter Series is built as a slim, pocket-friendly case with robust defense and added grip, according to the catalog description for the iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 model. It is wireless ready and works with both Qi charging and MagSafe, but the case itself has no magnets, so MagSafe accessories will not snap on magnetically. That is the main trade-off: you keep a slimmer profile and drop-and-bump protection, but you give up the magnetic alignment that a magnet-equipped case would provide. If you rely on a MagSafe wallet or mount that needs a strong magnetic hold, plan for a different case rather than expecting this one to grip magnetically.
- Keep it if you want a slim case with grip, drop and bump protection, and Qi or MagSafe charging support.
- Skip it if you need magnets in the case for MagSafe accessories to snap and hold.
- The catalog does not list drop-height ratings or material details for these models, so do not assume a specific drop standard.
Color, price, and model-list checks before you buy
All four listed products offer Color as the only available option type, so your decision comes down to model list, price, and color availability. The iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 Commuter Series Case is listed at USD 32.49 against a catalog comparison price of USD 49.99. The iPhone 16e, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 Commuter Series Case is listed at USD 33.49 against USD 49.99. The iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 14 Plus Commuter Series Case is listed at USD 23.09 against USD 34.99. The Symmetry Series Holiday Collection Case for iPhone 17 Pro is listed at USD 31.49 against USD 41.99. Prices and color availability can change, so confirm the current listing before checkout.
- Read the full model list on the product page; do not rely on the first phone name in the title.
- Match the exact model and size, especially if you own a Plus or Pro model.
- Check color options early if a specific finish matters to you.
Decision rules for the iPhone 16e and iPhone 15 Commuter Series
- Rule 1: Match the exact model list: If you own an iPhone 16e, only choose a Commuter Series case whose product page lists iPhone 16e. If you own an iPhone 15, either standard-size Commuter model that lists iPhone 15 will fit. Checkpoint: the model list, not the product name, decides fit.
- Rule 2: Pick by price when both fit: For iPhone 15 owners, the iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 model is listed at USD 32.49, while the iPhone 16e, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 model is listed at USD 33.49. For iPhone 16e owners, the same two models are the only standard-size Commuter choices. Checkpoint: compare current price and color before deciding.
- Rule 3: Choose Plus only for Plus: The iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 14 Plus Commuter Series Case is sized for the larger Plus bodies. Do not buy it for a standard iPhone 15 or iPhone 16e. Checkpoint: if your phone is not a Plus, skip the Plus model.
- Rule 4: Accept the no-magnet trade-off: The Commuter Series case for iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 is wireless ready and works with Qi charging and MagSafe, but it has no magnets in the case. If you need magnetic snap for accessories, this case will not provide it. Checkpoint: choose a magnet-equipped case if magnetic hold is essential.
- Rule 5: Step up only if you have iPhone 17 Pro: The Symmetry Series Holiday Collection Case is the only listed option for iPhone 17 Pro. It is a different series, so do not expect Commuter Series features from it. Checkpoint: iPhone 17 Pro owners should start with the Symmetry Series Holiday Collection.
Product facts
- iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 Commuter Series Case: Commuter Series case that fits iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14; described as slim, pocket-friendly, wireless ready, and compatible with both Qi charging and MagSafe (no magnets in case). This is the only listed Commuter model that names the iPhone 16e and also reaches iPhone 17e, so it is the safest standard-size pick for an iPhone 16e owner who wants the widest generation coverage.
- iPhone 16e, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 Commuter Series Case: Commuter Series case that fits iPhone 16e, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13. A second standard-size Commuter option for iPhone 16e and iPhone 15 owners; choose it over the other model if you prefer its color or current price.
- iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 14 Plus Commuter Series Case: Commuter Series case that fits iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 14 Plus. The only listed Commuter model sized for Plus bodies, so standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 16e owners should not choose it.
- iPhone 17 Pro Symmetry Series Holiday Collection Case: Symmetry Series Holiday Collection case that fits iPhone 17 Pro. The only listed case here built for iPhone 17 Pro, so it is the relevant option if you have that phone and want a holiday design instead of a Commuter Series case.
